Impressive pair of Easter colts for Portelli Racing
Apr 06, 2017
With the final Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale being held at Newmarket over the last few days, Portelli Racing needed to get in on the action and were thrilled to secure two outstanding colts – both from Group 1 pedigrees
Lot 323: Zoustar x Runs Deep, by Strategic - http://portelliracing.com.au/horse/zoustarxrunsdeepcolt15
From the first crop of Northern Meteor’s dual Group 1 winner Zoustar, whose yearlings have sold up to $1million, this colt is the first foal of the for-time-winning mare Runs Deep, herself a half-sister to Listed winner Excellent Reward.
From the family of Group 1 Blue Diamond winner and Group 1 Golden Slipper runner-up Earthquake as well as the dual group 2 winner El Cambio and Listed winners Complicate and Palomares, this colt is out of a Strategic mare, just like Group 1 winners Le Romain, Sonntag, Griante and Holler.
Lot 402: Redoute’s Choice x Turf Fairy, by Encosta de Lago - http://portelliracing.com.au/horse/redouteschoicexturffairycolt15
Wow – a colt by Redoute’s Choice our of a half-sister to Fashions Afield, making this colt a three-quarter brother to Group 1-winning 2yo for only $90,000 from the draft of Group 1 breeder and seller Newhaven Park!!
The colt is out of the Encosta de Lago mare Turf Fairy, a half-sister to dual group 1 winner Fashions Afield, who is inturn the dam of Group 2 Todman Stakes winner Kiss And Make Up – sheer 2yo class for this colt!
The pedigree also contains the triple stakes winner Runway Star as well as the Group 1 William Reid winner Wrap Around, while the colt is bred on a pedigree cross that has produced Group 1 winner Peeping (also bred by Newhaven Park), international Group 1 winner Musir as well as stakes winners Into The Mist, Beneteau, Burnstone and Essington
It is such an exciting pedigree and we don’t feel this colt will last at all – so make sure you get in quick.
