Reign stretches legs at Farm

Mar 15, 2018

The William Reid Stakes-bound She Will Reign tuned up for her bid to win the Moonee Valley Group 1, with an exhibition gallop at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.

The Gary Portelli-trained filly heads to the William Reid third-up, coming off a 10th placing in the Oakleigh Plate beaten 2.55 lengths in the Caulfield Group 1.

Portelli said he saw what he needed to out of his Golden Slipper winner, who has won six of her nine career starts including two G1 victories - the most recent of which at The Valley in the Moir Stakes last spring.

"Yeah exactly what we were hoping to see. She sat off a nice little filly that's a maiden she worked with, so it wasn't exactly a hard test," Portelli told Sky Racing.

"But you've got to keep these horses in a good mindset as well. She came around the filly quite comfortably, Kerrin [McEvoy] asked for an effort the last 100m... she started to stretch right out.

"It's amazing these good horses how they cover the ground when they look like they're not trying to do it.

"Looking forward to next Friday night."
