Weekend Wash-Up Sat 11 Aug
Aug 13, 2018
We left the track on Saturday very happy with the way all four of our runners performed:
Nicci's Gold (pictured) has well and truly earned her paddock spell after an excellent preparation stepping up to Saturday metro racing with 7 starts in town for a win, a placing and a couple of extremely unlucky runs. She just struggled to run out the last 200m on Saturday, backing-up on her first attempt over 2000m but put in a big effort none-the-less to finish third. The mare has collected $200,000 in prizemoney for her connections and we can't wait to see what she can do next prep.
Exceltic indicated that he is on the right track to target some of the smart 3yo races this campaign. After a luckless run at Canterbury first-up, it was great to see him out wide on the track in the Rosebud and storming home to finish sixth. He will be better over further and definitely one to watch going forward.
Testashadow showed great improvement over 1800m in the Premiers Cup Prelude. The stable has been working to mix up his routine and get the now 7yo firing again. He attempted some jumping on the Friday morning, had the visors put back on and had Rachel King in the saddle, all of which seemed to have ‘Testa’ switched on and charging through the finish line like his old self. He proceeds to the Group 3 Premier’s Cup on the 25th of August over 1900m, which should be his ideal distance for his fifth start back this campaign.
Fury Of The Storm is starting to put it all together and looks like he has the foot on the till for next start. He has placed at his two starts thus far and should be ready to break his maiden next start. He was doing his best work over the last 50m at Newcastle on Saturday and with a bit of extra ground, looked like he would gone right past the first and second horses.
Well done to all of our owners - plenty to look forward to with these smart gallopers!
